Life Enrichment Centres
Villages which are extremely backward, wherein the families are so poor that it is almost impossible for children in such distressed communities to study and get guidance in their homes, are identified. To ameliorate this situation, a secure place is provided for the children to do their schoolwork and receive tutorial help from experienced tutors. After-school tutorial help, life skill development, communicative English courses, native language training, awareness sessions on varied topics as well as science and theatre workshops are carried out. These centres aim to improve the learning behavior of students by providing them with a safe-to-fail and nurturing learning environment where they can step outside of their comfort zones and take healthy risks.
Residential camps
Residential camps where impoverished children are given a wide range of exposure, including interactions with eminent people, are conducted annually. The main features of the camp are workshops on arts and craft, medical checkups, yoga and physical training, sports, gaming sessions, outings, and talent shows.
These camps, which have been conducted since 1989, offer children a platform to interact, participate, and take healthy risks in a safe and nurturing environment. Emphasis is laid on experiential learning through indoor and outdoor activities to inculcate positivity and provide the children with a fertile ground for growth and success.
The camps, apart from fun and frolic, help the children gain new and positive experiences, engage in physical activities, and aid in the development of:
- Social skills
- Intellectual stimulation
- Independent skills
- Resilience and confidence
- Leadership and decision making skills
- Environmental awareness
- Creative experiences
