ACE was launched in 2019 at Anayara, a suburb about 6 km from Trivandrum. Anayara is characterised by high population density, poverty, inadequate infrastructure, lack of affordable housing, existence of slums and informal settlements, flooding, pollution, and crime conjugation. ACE was conceived with the idea of addressing the various socio-economic needs of the people living in the identified project area. These needs were identified through the baseline survey and mapping exercises conducted in the project area as well as informal meetings and observations by social workers. Stakeholders like local self-government representatives and political leaders were involved. The project requires the implementation of diverse on-site activities including fieldwork, awareness programs, outreach activities and the implementation of sustainable mechanisms. The aim of the project is to bring a sustainable development in the community through interventions like holistic development of children, capacity building for women, and welfare programs for senior citizens. Special focus is placed on reducing gender disparity by providing gender-sensitive education, empowering women to take up leadership positions, promoting equality in economic opportunity, and nurturing decision making. Emphasis is placed on promoting the idea of zero violence and discrimination in society.. Academic Support Program Focus is placed on a multitude of initiatives geared towards holistic development. ASP works in association with the Anayara Government Model Lower Primary School, Valiya Udeshwaram Upper Primary School, and Pettah Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School.
